"Even the little things shine: The bread, baked and served in terracotta flowerpots, is magnificently rich and salty. The wood-paneled space is warm and inviting, ideal for stretching out for a long, late-morning feast. In nice weather, the backyard garden opens, a cozy spot to sip a cocktail or linger over dinner.

Bartenders set the tone for their domain and can make or break the solo dining experience. The friendly and knowledgeable crew at Anella are so much of the reason I keep going back on my own—not really alone—somehow feeling a part of the action, connected by their warmth and command of the bar as helm of the restaurant.

"Anella’s a sweet restaurant, one worth traveling to try...

— SAM SIFTON, New York Times : reviewing anella

"Located in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, Anella has a brunch breakfast sandwich that is worth traveling for. The pork belly biscuit includes a runny sunny side egg, slab of pork belly, cilantro, pickled onion and spicy remoulade layered between a perfectly flaky buttermilk biscuit.”

It’s hard to fault a welcoming neighborhood restaurant simply because the menu is dominated by dishes from years (and even decades) past. Particularly when those plates are executed perfectly and given a fresh spin.

— NY Daily News : Anella is a classic Italian restaurant in Greenpoint

"By March, root vegetables hold the same power to enchant as a long, lingering, side-by-side reading of the House and Senate health care bills. So it was with restrained enthusiasm that I ordered carrots to kick off a recent meal at Anella. That turned to honest delight when the plate showed up, looking like dessert.
